Six categories, six locked hourly rates. FET-inclusive. The same number appears on the rate card, the quote, the wheels-up confirmation, and the end-of-month statement. The category norm is to publish a starting-from rate and add fuel, FET, and peak surcharges line by line. We do not.

Vertex Price returns a floor / list / settle triplet for every leg. The floor is the empty-leg or repositioning match. The list is the open-market one-way. The settle is the midpoint that closes the deal. Members debit the card at settle, or at floor when SmartRoute finds a tail already heading the same way.

Vertex returns floor / list / settle for every quote. The card debits at the locked rate; the spread is absorbed in margin.

Three tiers. À la carte for everything else.
Range is the recommended tier for principals flying 25+ hours per year across the mid and super-mid cabins. Light is for short-haul domestic; Long-Range for full-fleet interchange and trans-ocean legs on the Gulfstream and Global side of the fleet.

Member deposits live in a segregated third-party escrow account, not on the Oneways balance sheet. The custodian releases the per-leg amount to the operator only after telemetry confirms wheels-up. Funds for un-flown legs remain the member's property and are recoverable in any operator default.
DOT-compliant third-party escrow at a regulated trust. Funds released per-leg at wheels-up. The custodian holds member deposits in a named-trust account governed by the same posture as 14 CFR Part 295 broker-disclosure obligations: every leg's operator, total cost, and broker-capacity status are documented at the time of release.
The category precedent is well known. A category-leading jet-card provider filed Chapter 7 in 2020 with member deposits commingled as working capital; depositors became unsecured creditors. We built the per-leg release model so that situation cannot recur on our cards. The full breakdown is in the field note escrow is not an amenity, it's a balance sheet →
Five line items we don't absorb. Stated up front.
The card hourly is genuinely all-in for fuel, FET, and peak. A short list of pass-throughs is itemized at cost, never marked up.
- 01 Catering above $250 per leg.
Standard catering up to $250/leg is included; above that, billed at cost.
- 02 Ground transport beyond 50 miles from the FBO.
First 50 miles included. Past that, billed at the operator's rate.
- 03 International landing & handling fees.
Eurocontrol, customs, Mexican navigation. Quoted at the time of the leg, never marked up.
- 04 De-ice fluid Type II / IV.
Type I (fluid up to 200 gallons) included. Type II/IV (anti-icing for active precipitation) billed at airport rate.
- 05 Customs & immigration overtime.
CBP and customs after-hours fees passed through at cost.
Twelve questions. Plain answers.
The category averages thirty-six pages of footnotes in a member handbook. Ours fits on one screen. Direct-link any answer with its anchor (e.g. #faq-fet, #faq-custody).
Pricing
- Are there peak-day surcharges?
- No. The card hourly is locked for 24 months from deposit. The category-norm 5–40% peak surcharge is absorbed into membership margin. We do reserve the right to extend lead-time on declared peak days (Long-Range tier only, 96 hr instead of 48 hr).
- Are there blackout dates?
- No card-rate blackouts. Long-Range tier shifts to 96-hour lead time on the 12 industry-standard peak days (Thanksgiving Wednesday and Sunday, Christmas Eve and Day, etc.). The card rate itself is unchanged.
Escrow & trust
- Who custodies my funds?
- A DOT-compliant third-party escrow account at a regulated trust. Funds remain your property until wheels-up on each leg, when the per-leg amount is released to the operator. We do not commingle deposits with operating capital.
- What happens if an operator defaults mid-trip?
- Funds for un-flown legs remain in escrow and are not released. Re-routing is performed against the federated supply pool at the locked card rate; if a re-route requires an operator-positioned one-way at higher cost, Oneways absorbs the spread. You do not pay twice for the same leg.
How it works
- How does the refund work?
- Within 30 days of deposit: full refund less third-party fees (Stripe, escrow setup) — typically under $400. After 30 days: refundable at any time at the then-current per-flight rate for legs already flown — you "buy out" of card pricing rather than forfeit. Death, disability, or international relocation: full refund, no fee.
- Can I upgrade to a larger cabin on a specific leg?
- Yes. You pay the rate delta only — a Light Member upgrading to Mid pays the per-hour difference, not full Mid rate. The delta is debited from your card balance at the upgraded category rate.
- How does the empty-leg priority work?
- Members see SmartRoute empty-leg matches 24 hours before public release. When Vertex finds a tail already heading your way, the card debits at the empty-leg floor rather than the card hourly — typical savings 30–60%.
- What is the call-out window?
- Light and Range tiers: 24 hours. Long-Range tier: 48 hours non-peak, 96 hours on the 12 declared peak days. Inside the window, availability is guaranteed at the locked card rate or the card pays the open-market spread.
- What currency are deposits held in?
- USD by default. EUR, GBP, AED, and CHF deposits available on request — the card balance is held in the deposit currency and converted at mid-market at the time each leg debits. Multi-currency statements monthly.
Compliance & disclosures
- How do you comply with 14 CFR Part 295?
- Every quote includes the operator name and D/B/A, our broker capacity disclosure, total cost including all taxes and fees, third-party fees if any, and our broker insurance status. The operator is the direct air carrier on the certificate; we are an air charter broker as defined in 14 CFR § 295.5.
- How is the 7.5% Federal Excise Tax handled?
- The card hourly is FET-inclusive. The 2026 segment fee is $5.30 per passenger per domestic segment and $23.40 for international facilities. Both are absorbed into the all-in rate at sale time and remitted to IRS by Oneways. There are no FET line-items on your statement.
- Where can I fly under the card rate?
- Lower-48 United States and the Bahamas at the card hourly with no reposition fee. Mexico, Canada, Caribbean: card rate plus published reposition fee. Trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific: priced separately on the Long-Range tier; Light and Range tiers do not include international long-haul.
